A Give-Away Soon + Quilt Inspiration

Thank you et merci for visiting my blog!
What would this blog be without you? I really appreciate all of your visits and comments (those in French as well as those in English).

As a way to say thanks, I'm planning a give-away for next Monday (January 12th) -- I hope you'll be able to stop by!

I'm not usually very good at making (or keeping) new year's resolutions. This year, though, I'd really like to make a patchwork quilt. I've wanted to make one for a looong time. I even started one for my son's crib, but when he was delivered several months earlier than expected, I never managed to complete it. Thankfully, my (very thoughtful) mom came to France for a visit, took the unfinished quilt with her to the US, finished it, and then sent it back to me.

Among the many beautiful blogs that have inspired me to finally make a quilt are Thimbleanna, Crazy Mom Quilts, and Simplify. Even if you never intend to do any quilting, these blogs are so fun to visit.

As a start toward making a quilt this year, I went through my stash last night and chose these fabrics. They are all vintage/thrifted and a quilt seems like a nice way to give them new life and yet preserve them, too. The other thing I should work on in 2009 is taking better photos, but that's another story!

Ohmygosh -- are you kidding? I think your photos are stunning! Thank you for saying I inspire you, but I assure you the inspiration runs in the opposite direction. If I don't figure out something to put that adorable little Santa of yours on soon, I'll ... well, I don't know what I'll do, but it will be something drastic.

I love the beautiful fabrics you've chosen and I can't wait to see what pattern you'll make with them!

The combination of fabrics is beautiful. So is everything else I have seen you post here on the blog. I was so thrilled when I discovered your blog because I have felt a bit "alone" when it comes to cross-stithing (english speaking blogs...my french is non-existing). Looking forward to se the evolution of that beautiful quilt!

I would love to make that make-a-quilt-dream come true in 2009 as well. A very big quilt! I have thought about it so many times the last year, but haven't dared beginning ;0)

Those gorgeous fabrics of yours would look stunning in a quilt. I'm excited to see how it turns out.

I really like the way you take pictures - very elegant and close-up. If you ask me, then you just have to keep up the good work you are doing already :0)

Hello from Denver!!!
Best of luck with this quilt. After seeing your other projects - I'm sure it will be beautiful!
I am working on some 18th century costuming!
by the way - just what do you need to work on with your photos? They are wonderful! I espicially like the one of the windows thru the 'tunnel' and the colums along side a portico!
