Sewing Projects

Though I haven't been blogging lately, I -have- been sewing a bit and made a little boy doll and this patchwork pillow. Both are made entirely from vintage fabric (except for the doll's hair and eyes, which are in felt). His face and hands are made from an old French sheet in thick cotton/linen.

The doll was so fun to make and his new little owner seems to adore him. The pattern is from charming Wee Wonderfuls and is available here (it includes a little girl pattern that I'd like to try next).

The pillow was unexpectedly fun to do, too. I thought it might take forever to cut out and sew, but it actually came together pretty quickly. The 81 squares are made from 41 different vintage fabrics that I've collected over the years.

In the Garden

It's a gray, rainy, blustery day around Paris today. So rather than looking out the window, I'm gazing at this photograph (a secondhand find) and imagining myself in this garden on a warm, sunny afternoon (maybe taking the photo).

We don't have a yard or garden to call our own, which is probably one of the reasons I love looking at this. Doesn't the table look inviting*?
